OmegaSoft to commence pharmacy software integration with Aegate
12th December 2006
Aegate, the pharmaceutical authentication company, today announces that leading pharmacy software provider, OmegaSoft, will commence integration work with Aegate in 2007.
This puts Aegate in pole position to cover the majority of the country's pharmacies by the end of next year with its Authentication at the Point of DispensingTM service.
Aegate's secure on-line service, integrated into the pharmacy software, creates a direct communication link between each pharmaceutical manufacturer and each pharmacy. This enables a closer relationship that prevents patients from inadvertently receiving illegal medicines or recalled items.
OmegaSoft is the largest pharmacy software provider in Belgium. With roll out to these and Farm@d pharmacies, Aegate is set to support close to 70% of pharmacies in Belgium before the end of 2007.
Omegasoft Business Unit Leader Pharma , Philippe Grandjean, commented: "We want to provide our customers with innovative and best practice products and recognise the significant benefits that Aegate will bring to pharmacy practice."
A significant number of pharmacists in Belgium have already requested the authentication service. With the seamless integration offered by the system, pharmacies can simply incorporate the service into their existing dispensing processes. All that is required is a standard broadband connection, which most pharmacies already have.
The service is provided in collaboration with L'Association Pharmaceutique Belge (APB). The collaboration gives APB access to specific areas of the secure system in order to input important product information, such as recalls.
Dirk Broeckx, Secretary General, APB commented: " The pharmacist is the final stage before a medicine is dispensed to the patient - our collaboration with Aegate gives Belgian pharmacists important opportunities to enhance the professional value of the pharmacist in the interest of patient safety."
